The paintwork and remains of the tack are original but showing wear as expected.
The white patches on the legs are where the gesso has fallen off ( the pale area under the saddle is nice paint - pale because it was protected from the light by the now missing saddle cloth ). The horse's leg joints are firm and there is no structural damage as far as I can tell.
The stand needs some attention; the top rail is loose and needs re-wedging. The bottom rail has a few woodworm holes but the wood is solid and does not need to be replaced. The holes are likely to have been made many years ago but the wood has been given a precautionary treatment.
The horse could either be restored around the original paint or stripped down and given new gesso and paint.
